Announcements Company Meet the Team

After a Warm Welcome in Australia, We’re Excited to Introduce Jennie Sager, our First Country Manager

Written by Sarah Leary

We had high expectations for Australian neighbourhoods when we introduced Nextdoor Australia in late October 2018, but we have been blown away by the overwhelmingly positive response since we launched. In just a few short months, thousands of neighbourhoods have started using Nextdoor to connect with neighbours, find trusted local recommendations and tune in to what’s happening in their neighbourhoods. More importantly, Australians are using Nextdoor as a valuable tool for creating social impact in their communities. Neighbours are coming together to host book clubs, start gardening groups, join Neighbourhood Watch programs and simply meet for coffee to get to know one another. Members have organised more than a thousand events on Nextdoor illustrating Aussies’ propensity for creating real world connections and building stronger local communities. This is the magic of Nextdoor.

In order to build on the outstanding community engagement we’re witnessing on Nextdoor from Perth to Brisbane, Darwin to Melbourne, and everywhere in between, we are thrilled to welcome Jennie Sager as Nextdoor Australia’s first Country Manager. Jennie will be working closely with members and neighbourhoods across Australia to deepen their efforts to build thriving local communities.

As an executive with over twenty years of experience, Jennie specializes in developing creative strategies that bring communities together to improve the world around them. Jennie joins Nextdoor from Twitter where she headed up content partnerships across Asia Pacific, including Australia. Before Twitter, Jennie produced award-winning programs for top television networks, including The Nine Network, MTV, Discovery, NBC, ABC, CBS, and HGTV. She has also been a content producer for many of the world’s largest events, including the ARIAS and the Super Bowl.

Most importantly, Jennie is a strong believer in mission-driven organisations and the power of connected local communities. She is a dedicated member of MediaRing, an organisation that fosters career opportunities in media for indigenous Australians, and sits on the Board of Directors for City Recital Hall, Sydney’s world-class, purpose-built performance space. She and her family are also active members of their local surf and school communities near their Sydney neighbourhood.

Jennie shares our strong commitment of empowering local communities to build a better world, and we are thrilled to introduce her to all of you. Please join me in welcoming Jennie Sager to the neighbourhood!
